Well (with my Hoosier accent, it sounds like “whelp” although I never figured out where the soft “p” sound came from), those hard-working, high-spirited little stinkers did it.

We’re goin’ to Disney World!

My daughter’s cheer team just won the title of 1st-place champions in their division for the entire Eastern region. I just got home, and I’m proud and delighted and stressed about how I’m going to pull all of this off in two weeks.

I ran into my ex on the way in to the arena, who happened to have our other two children in tow. We all sat together, and once again, it was a very stress-free, downright nice afternoon. Ana was patient and quiet during the hours and hours of performances. Joey was wallering (another Indiana term) all over me, and frankly, if someone had been available for me to waller all over, I would have done it, too. It was about a 6-hour ordeal.

Mickey Mouse made an appearance at the awards ceremony. My ex and I watched our young son for a reaction, but he just rolled his eyes and said one word, “costume.” 🙂

I have mixed emotions about this Florida deal. I don’t like the commercialism. I don’t like the way Disney is capitalizing on these talented little girls. But now that we are committed, I am planning to enjoy Walt’s magic with the rest of them without complaint.

Fate is kind,
She brings to those who love

The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing…
