“Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
(Christopher Robin to Pooh)
– A.A. Milne
Spring is still teasing us around here. Bright sunny days beckon us to play outdoors, but the brisk temperature demands a warm coat – not very Spring-like.
Saturday I decided to do a long run, despite the “feels like” temperature of 28. I mapped a new route of 8 miles on unfamiliar local country roads, and I wasn’t disappointed with the scenery. I breezed through two small towns and 118 acres of preserved farmlands. Traffic was minimal. As I rounded the corner for home, and the little voice on my Nike+ workout app congratulated me on my 8 miles, I decided I had some energy left to try for 10. So I passed my house and headed through the neighborhood for a short 2-mile route I know very well. My feet knew the way without much input from my brain.
Elated, I finished up with 10.5 miles – my first ever double-digit run. Wow.
